shopping-platforms

We’ve all heard of eBay, Amazon and Google Shopping, but there’s a wide world of niche online marketplaces and fashion apps out there that love working with independent fashion labels, vintage boutiques and pre-owned designer fashion resellers.

If you’re looking for the best place to sell clothes online, check out these five clothing apps for fashion retailers!

#1. ASOS Marketplace

This is an excellent online marketplace for independent fashion brands and vintage fashion boutiques and can connect you with fashion-loving buyers across the globe.

You can build your own branded boutique with a customisable storefront; the marketplace has recently expanded into fashion accessories including jewellery and watches; you’ll need to maintain a minimum of 15 product listings at all times, and the ASOS Shopping App is available for Android and iOS devices. ASOS takes a 20 percent commission on everything you sell and you’ll need to pay a GBP$20 (approx. AUD$37) monthly subscription fee.

#2. Depop

Depop is a completely app-based fashion marketplace which is home to a global community of fashion-forward creatives. Up-and-coming fashion designers are welcome to sell your original creations, or vintage boutiques can sell pre-owned finds, and the platform operates on a fix-priced model so there is no bidding or haggling allowed.

To get paid, simply link your PayPal account to Depop and money is transferred when the sale is confirmed — less Depop’s 10 percent commission.

#3. Vestiaire Collective

If you trade in authentic pre-owned luxury fashion, this app is for you. You can choose to list and sell your items individually on the app to receive up to 80 percent of the purchase price, or sell on consignment and receive up to 75 percent of the purchase price.

When an item is sold, the Vestiaire Collective team checks its quality and authenticity before sending it on to the buyer.

#4. Etsy

Etsy is all about handcrafted, vintage or custom wares and is ideal for up-and-coming fashion designers trying to get your collection seen — and sold!

The platform connects you with more than 33 million buyers around the world and you can list an item for as little as AUD$0.29 with a 5 percent transaction fee plus a 3 to 4 percent payment processing fee to pay when the item sells. The Sell on Etsy App also provides full functionality from your smartphone.

#5. Facebook Marketplace

Facebook Marketplace is a great way to connect with customers in your local area and can add another sales channel to your bricks-and-mortar boutique. You can create a dedicated storefront for your fashion business, customise your inventory and communicate with buyers and display reviews. You also get access to order management tools and can access Facebook Marketplace via the Facebook app.

Shopify is an excellent tool you can use to create a digital store that can be easily integrated with Facebook and multiple other social media platforms.
